What we carry forward, and what we’re creating now.

Turning leaves.
Changing Seasons.
Celebrating the past.
Creating for right here and right now.
Grateful for it all.

I recently walked among the red and golden maple leaves of Quebec while visiting a friend I hadn’t seen in more than 20 years—and have known for almost 30.

We met when we were in our 20’s and early in our counselling and therapy careers.Since then, our lives have changed so much. We’ve each lived so many adventures.

I am filled with gratitude.

Grateful for the stories and the memories. For the power of choice. And for the evidence that change is possible - that we are all growing, all ways!!!!

There were moments when time blurred and I could not remember what year this or that happened. Did I go to Africa before or after that? Was I living in Montreal then? We had plenty of “do you remember when…” moments, but getting every detail right didn’t matter. What stayed with me was the energy underneath it all.

To be welcomed. To welcome another.

To invite someone into your home, into your life, into your heart.

To make room in our lives for each other’s stories, passions, and dreams.

To celebrate the ways we’ve changed—and to know we’ve made a difference in each other’s lives.

And to grow from there.

It wasn’t only a “good old days” conversation. We found ourselves talking about our dreams and desires now, and what we’re each nurturing in this season of life.

Yes, yes and more yes.

I’ve been wondering: Who helps you see how much you’ve grown? And whether or not anyone else has witnessed every part of your journey, can you pause long enough to notice it for yourself?

Perhaps this changing season is an invitation to reach out to someone you miss. Or simply to ask yourself: What am I grateful to carry forward? What am I ready to create, right here and right now?

A reminder for this week: You don’t have to remember every step of the path to honour how far you’ve come. Take a breath. Notice where you are. Let yourself be here.
