Hey there sunshine.
Yesterday, I did something different.
I packed my backpack, filled it with my journal, laptop, markers, pens, and an extra charger if needed, along with some water and a smoothie. And yes, I ate a boiled egg with everything seasoning before I headed out… and I began to walk.
I passed some early morning risers at a picnic bench. I leaned into the fluttering green leaves. I walked in gratitude on the sidewalk, on the earth, with the tree roots below me and the sky openings above me. I was moving, breathing, and being with myself and with all of this great glorious world that was rising to greet me as well.
There were moments I felt like a Matryoshka doll; a woman walking, on a path, in a park, near the creek, in the prairies, past the hills, next to the oceans, in the world, surrounded by oceans, seas, skies, air, lands, rocks, along with all the walking, crawling, flying, moving creatures.
We are not alone. We are all of this and then some.
And then, at the same time, I found myself sitting solitary at a picnic table facing the rising sun. Moments of eyes closed and breathing in the sky. Moments of eyes open soaking in the sun and feeling the support of the trees all around me.
I then took pen to paper and began my morning practice of writing, breathing, and connecting to my heart, body, soul, and intentions of the day.
And if I may remind you… this doesn’t take long. Some people think they don’t have time to write, or walk, or move their bodies, or deviate from their to-do lists. Well, I have one question for you: Is that true? Really?
One of the ways I continue to get clear on my desires, who I am becoming, and what I want to create and receive more of in my life, is to write and journal and make my asks, intentions, goals, and targets crystal clear, so I am not distracted on the path of creation.
What became clear to me yesterday were my passions, pathways, and purpose.
Yes… I know that JOY is my jam.
Many of my clients have lost their joy, or have gotten tangled up and confused in who they are being and what they would like to create. Some don’t even know what lights them up anymore. We can be going through the motions of life, rather than living a life, creating with our days and nurturing our vision, dreams, and desires.
Maybe a daily walk in the sun with a journal and some questions for inspiration and reflection could help.
So take a peek. Here are some pics of the results of my writings and where I am headed. There are more creations coming — some fun, exciting growth adventures for my life and my business — all for, in and with JOY.
I’d like to share with you the writings from yesterday. I hope they inspire you, and perhaps this writing invitation is something you would like to try for yourself.
Here’s a little glimpse of yesterday’s writing practice.
The Steps:
- Breathe. Move your body. Relax. Walk slow. Eyes open. Notice your inside and outside landscapes.
- Find a quiet place to be.
- Breathe. Write. Let your pen flow.
- Write about your asks, your desires, your dreams.
- Write in the first person, as if it is already happening.
- Soak it in. Immerse yourself in the sensation of being and receiving those asks, desires, and dreams right now.
- Imagine you already are that.
Now what would you choose? Who would you be? How would you move in your day?
What could you be, do, or choose right now that would nurture one of those asks or dreams even more today?
Be grateful for it all. Grateful for yesterday, grateful for tomorrow, grateful for this moment right now.
Then begin your day.
What became clear to me yesterday is that joy asks for space, attention, listening, and a willingness to be with myself honestly. And when I do, I remember what matters, what is calling, and what wants to grow. Maybe something in this reflection invites you to pause, breathe, listen, and begin again in your own way.
Whatever you choose today, may each breath, each step, each word, each action bring you more ease and joy.
Be alive and shine.
